This policy explains what personal information TraderTax collects, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We've tried to keep it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at support@tradertax.co.uk.
TraderTax is a service operated by Recovanta Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17171212). Our registered office is Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London, E17 3NU.
For the personal data described in this policy, Recovanta Ltd is the data controller. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), data protection registration number ZC131754.
When you set up a subscription, your bank details are collected and held securely by GoCardless, our payment provider, to operate your Direct Debit. We do not see or store your bank account number or sort code. We keep a reference to your GoCardless customer and subscription so we can manage billing.

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
We share personal data only with the providers we need to run the service. They act on our instructions as our processors:
We may also share your data with your accountant or anyone else when you choose to — for example when you use the "export for your accountant" feature. We may disclose information if required by law, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Your data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom. Where a provider (such as our email provider) processes data in the European Union, that data remains protected by laws the UK recognises as providing an adequate level of protection, or by appropriate safeguards.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. After your account closes:

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access a copy of your data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; and receive your data in a portable format. You can exercise any of these by emailing support@tradertax.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've handled your data improperly. You can reach them at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please do contact us.
We protect your data with measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take security seriously and review it regularly.
TraderTax is intended for self-employed people and businesses, and is not directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change, we'll let you know by email or in the app. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
